This course runs over a duration of 16-20 weeks with 1 day per week attendance. This can be modified due to student time constraints. The course requires an aspect of self-learning through research, live class participation for both theory and practical assessment. There is an aspect of online activity which allows students to study and participate at their own pace.

The course starts off with reviewing the skin anatomy, taking you through protocols for skin analysis and skin care using cosmeceuticals.

From there we study the following elements -

 

VTCT Advanced Therapies -

• Apply micro dermabrasion (End test theory paper)

• Dermatology and microbiology (End test theory paper)

• Laser and light treatments for hair removal

• Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation

• Chemistry of hair and beauty products

• Management of health, safety and security in the salon

• Physiology of ageing (End Test theory paper)

• Quality management of client care in the hair and beauty sector

• Salon management

How you will be assessed?

Theory assessment is through ongoing assignments, most of which will be submitted to your student portal.

Practical observation and assessment takes place at the school by your tutor, however aspects the practical can be completed as distance learning.

 

Class learning is also undertaken in the clinic shadowing and working with clients.

On completion students are awarded VTCT & ESA certification.

 

End Test -

1 External Theory assessment which covers part of the course; Microdermabrasion, physiology of aging and Microbiology & Dermatology.

 

Entry Requirements

• Level 3 or similar

• HND Beauty Therapy

• Medical qualification

• Students should be over 16

• Students should possess a good command of English

• Students should have a satisfactory level of education
